Brief information on the work done by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in the first half of 2018 YOUTH POLICY:
Overall, in 2018, 183 events were held in the field of youth policy with the support of the Central Office of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, 165 of them were local and 18 were internationally recognized. Two 254 people were sent to the foreign countries and 1234 were received in the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Azerbaijan State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports hosted a meeting dedicated to the 28th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy on January 17, 2018.
Six young people, distinguished in science, education, culture, literature and social activities, were awarded with the Youth Prize and 22 talented young people were awarded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports on February 02, 2018.
Nakhchivan was selected as the Youth Capital of 2018 through the electronically voting and the symbol of the Youth Capital was presented to Nakhchivan on the Youth Day.
In January-June of this year, with the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, a series of events “Azerbaijan Youth and Heydar Aliyev”, dedicated to the 95th birth anniversary of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic and the Armed Forces, “Modern Azerbaijan Literature”, ”Everything For the Homeland”, “From Past to Future”, “April Battles are the Heroic Chronicles”, “Everything for Karabakh” and other awareness-raising events were held.
Cultural events were held in the “N” military units in February-March due to the "Azerbaijan Youth Day" and "Novruz Holiday".
"Winter Leadership School" was held in Mingachevir on February 05-11, 2018 with the participation of the public activists of the higher and secondary special education institutions.
On February 14-16, 2018, the VII Republican Competition "Scientists of Tomorrow" was held among the pupils of the secondary schools.
Training courses on "Successful student participation in the labour market" were held in Baku on February 14-16 and on March 28-30, 2018.
The XI Republican Tournament on bullet-shot shotgun among the students of the higher and secondary special educational institutions devoted to the 26th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide was held on February 23, 2018.
The zone conferences were held in Guba region and in Shamakhi region on the 100th anniversary of the genocide of Azerbaijanis on March, 2018.
The Novruz Festival was organized for 300 juniors and young people in need of social protection.
The Art Festival "Ancient Azerbaijan through the Eyes of the Modern Youth" was held at the Museum Center on March 13-16, 2018.
A cultural event for the young people who voted for the first time was held in the Baku Sports Palace on March 17, 2018.
A conference dedicated to "March 31st - Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis" was held on March 30, 2018 in order to give detailed information about the genocide committed against Azerbaijanis.
April 25, 2018, the Student Festival "Student Spring" was held with the participation of more than 15 higher education institutions.
A conference "The role of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev in the patriotic education of the Azerbaijan people" was held in Nakhchivan.
The republican final competition of the "Shahin" military-sports game and the opening ceremony of the Armed Forces Training Center was held in May 2018.
The 7th International Caspian Cup "Intellectual Games" tournament was held in Baku in June 2018. More than 200 young people from eight countries participated in the tournament.
The festival of patriotic songs "Huner" was held in Nakhchivan.
In August-September 2018 in Lankaran city and Guba region, patriotic summer-rest camps were organized for the youth. Two hundred fifty-two young people have been involved in the camps.
The Special Olympic Youth Leaders Forum was held in Azerbaijan in September 2018. More than 220 young people from 45 countries participated in the forum.
The X International Children Mugam Contest was held in October. About 60 performers from nine countries (Turkey, Egypt, Iran, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Algeria, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan) took part in the competition.
Azerbaijan hosted the 2nd Robotics Olympiad in October. Fifty-four teams from 22 universities and secondary schools participated in the Olympiad.
The Third Republican Meeting of the Talented and Creative Youth was held in Baku in October 2018. About 600 young people from all regions of the country participated in the meeting.
Zone meetings of the VIII Forum of Azerbaijan Youth and VIII Forum of the Azerbaijan Youth were held in Baku Convention Center in November 2018. Overall, about 2,000 young people from all regions participated.
Days of the Belarusian youth in Azerbaijan were held in November 2018.
Baku hosted the final stage of the VI National Junior Chess Championship "Khamsa" among juniors. In the final, 32 teams from 22 cities and regions participated.
II International Knowledge Olympiad "Talent Preparation Laboratory" was held in Baku in December 2018. 108 participants from 10 countries (Azerbaijan, Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Estonia, Georgia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan) participated in the Olympiad.
The International Youth Forum of Volunteers held in Baku in October- November 2018. Eighty young people from eight countries participated in the Forum.
III Simulation Contest "Young Investor 2018" Exchange Trading was held in Baku in December. Twenty teams representing seven higher education institutions took part in the competition.
The international scout camp "Wonderland of Azerbaijan 2018" was implemented in Khachmaz. More than 400 participants took part in the camp.
V Republican exhibition of the youth organizations was held in November 2018.
The II session of the Youth Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan in 2017-2021 and the Forum of the Young Leaders of the Turkish Council was held in Nakhchivan.
In accordance with the Action Plan approved by the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2018, 225 republican competitions were organized in our country with the support of the Federations operating in the country, 58 international competitions were held, and 236 international competitions were attended by the Azerbaijan national teams.
In 2018, 753 medals, including 263 gold, 230 silver and 260 bronze medals were won in the World and European Championships and Tournaments, Cups and a number of international tournaments.
National teams participated in more than 100 training sessions for at least 12 days.
Seventeen licenses have been won by our athletes at the III Youth Summer Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and have won three gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

During the reporting period, special attention was paid to the development of the international relations in the field of youth and sports.
Delegation led by Minister Azad Rahimov visited the Palestinian State to attend the opening ceremony of the international program "Capital of the Youth of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation - Jerusalem 2018" held in Ramallah on February 06, 2018.
Within the framework of the official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani to Baku on March 28, 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of sports and youth between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Sports and Youth of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been signed.
The IV Session of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation of the Ministers of Youth and Sports Conference was held in Baku on April 17-19, 2018.
Deputy Minister Farhad Hajiyev attended the 39th seminar of the International Olympic Committee and the European Olympic Committees on the Games Organizing held in Belgrade, Serbia on May 11-12, 2018.
Minister Azad Rahimov met with the ambassadors of the foreign countries to discuss the current situation and prospects of relations in the field of youth and sports.
A visit of a delegation of 11 members of the Republic of Korea to Azerbaijan held within the framework of the international exchange programs of the young people from July 24 to August 2, 2018.
12-member delegation from the Kingdom of Morocco visited the Republic of Azerbaijan on August 20-31, 2018.
Azerbaijan delegation headed by Minister Azad Rahimov was sent to Moscow and Makhachkala, Russian Federation on December 17-21, 2018 in order to attend the 6th Russian-Azerbaijan Youth Forum.
OLYMPIC SPORTS COMPLEXES
At present 44 Olympic Sports Complexes operate in cities and regions of our republic.
In 2018, the Olympic Sports Complex was put into operation in Lankaran. Construction of three Olympic Sports Complex (Neftchala OSC, Terter OSC, Goranboy OSC) and two Sports Complex (Yardimli SC, Gala SC) are being constructed. Beylagan RSC is ready for the opening.
Design of the Yevlakh Olympic Sports Complex has been completed.
A new chess school in Guneshli settlement and a gym in Buzovna have been built and put into operation. Construction of eight gyms is being constructed.
