Educating young people in human rights

To draw public attention to the protection of human rights using the creative potential of youth and to increase young people's awareness about human rights, in April-June 2014, the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the "Step" Creative Youth Association held the contest of short films among young people on the theme of human rights. Prior to the contest, a training course on issues relating to human rights has been held in Baku. The 3-day-long training has been conducted by well-known people of art - the film experts, play-writers, producer and lawyers, and thematic films have been shown.

As part of the training course, in May-June, the participants made 25 short films and social videos. To provide the high-quality video recording, the opportunities for editing, sound recording and other technical support have been created for all the participants.

Based on the final result, 10 short films released by young people have been selected for the final round.

On June 19, 2014 the winners were determined and the award ceremony was held. By the decision of qualified jury, the "Doll" film by Orkhan Jahangir took the 1st place, the "Thought" film by Javanshir Eladisoy - 2nd place, and "There is no such things as someone else’s children" film by Namig Zeynalov - 3rd place.
